Tarte, Lights Camera Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara.

tarte mascara

While I was on my little shopping spree looking for a new concealer the other day, I also decided to finally pick up a tube of this mascara that I’ve heard amazing things about. While I really love my YSL mascara, its a little pricey, and I’m always looking for more than one good mascara so I can have different makeup looks. I’m going to start off by saying one thing, different mascara wands, can do amazingly different things. My one real heavy drawback of this mascara is that it claims to curl your lashes, so that if you’re doing your makeup on the go, you don’t need a lash curler.  I however did not find this claim to be true in the slightest, and I definitely needed to use an eyelash curler before using this mascara. Aside from this though, I found that this really is a nice mascara, it makes your lashes really big, and it doesn’t clump that often. I would definitely recommend trying out this mascara, but I should also say that it doesn’t really compare to the YSL mascara I’ve tried in the past.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.

nars concealer

Recently I’ve been looking for a new full coverage concealer that can cover my dark circles without feeling heavy or looking cakey afterwards. As a result of many trips to Sephora, I’ve stumbled upon the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer, and it is one of the best products I’ve ever found. It’s full coverage while still feeling light weight, and it does an amazing job of covering any dark circles, pimples, or any other possible flaws. This concealer can really wear throughout the day, and it doesn’t end up getting creased throughout the day like other concealers I’ve tried in the past. I would definitely recommend that if you’re looking for a new concealer that you should try this one, it is a little more on the pricy side, but it is definitely worth it.

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Clis Babydoll.

As someone who’s just recently started using YSL products, I can say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality their products have. Before using their products, I always thought their brand and their products were overhyped and over priced, and that they weren’t worth the money. Now though I think it is an amazing quality brand with beautiful products.ysl mascara

My most recent purchase from YSL was their mascara, it is one of the best mascaras I have ever used, and will probably ever will use. This mascara isn’t even clumpy in the slightest, its extremely easy to control and apply. I’ve used this mascara for a week, and I haven’t accidentally gotten it on my eye makeup or face makeup at all. Not to mention the amazing volume this mascara gives your lashes, my lashes literally looked like I had fake lashes on after I applied this mascara.

All in all, I think this is a really amazing product, and I would definitely buy this product again. I really love YSL, their lip glosses and lip sticks are utterly amazing, the quality of them is so perfect, their full of moisture and they don’t dry your lips out at all. I would definitely suggest trying out this mascara though, its absolutely a game changer, and something that I think everyone should try at some point.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette.

abh paletteSo recently I finally got around to buying the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette. I’ve been wanting to try it for a very long time, and I was so excited when it finally arrived in the mail. The first thing I wanna say about the palette was that I loved the spectrum of colors in the palette, they were all very warm toned, there was a wide array of pinks, oranges, browns, and other neutrals. I also really liked that there were mostly matte shades with only a few shimmers instead of the palette being overpowered by shimmers. The pigmentation in the palette was absolutely amazing, the eyeshadows blended effortlessly, and were absolutely perfect. My only real complaint about this palette was that the eyeshadows were very dusty and they had a lot of kick back to them, and it created a lot of fall out all over the palette.

25 Things You Can Do Instead of Self Harming.

(Side note, This is a post of mine from awhile ago that recently got deleted, and one of my friends told me she really needed it so I’m republishing it to help her and potentially someone else.)

Self harming is often not an easy thing to stop doing. But there are other things that are available for you to pursue where you can still get your emotions out. I know it’s hard to stop, but you can do it, stay strong.

My Opinion on Kat Von D Cosmetics.

I’ve been using this brand for a long long time, so over the years, I’ve developed a very unique opinion on this brand. I also really enjoy doing these kinds of posts, so I figured I would make another one of these on a brand I’m really familiar with. So in this post, I’m gonna talk about some of my favorite and least favorite products from Kat Von D Cosmetics, and how I feel about their brand and how they treat their customers as a whole.

(P.s. Before I start, everyone has different brands they do and don’t like, and just because I don’t like a certain brand doesn’t mean that you can’t or that you liking that brand is wrong. Everyone has different opinions, and this is just mine.)

1. Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo Foundation

lock it foundationI know I’ve already written a post about this foundation, but it’s just so amazing that I wanna talk about it again. When I tried this product, it gave me an amazing flawless base for the rest of my makeup, it had such amazing coverage that when I use it, I barely even have to use any concealer on top of it. I really love how full coverage it is, it doesn’t get at all cake through out the day, and I also really appreciate that it doesn’t sink into my pores, making my makeup look patchy. I honestly would recommend this foundation to anybody and everybody, but I think that this foundation is really good for people who have acne prone skin, because my skin didn’t find this foundation at all irritating, which is a common problem for me. I’ve started incorporating this foundation into my daily makeup routine, and I definitely would buy this product again.

2. The Lock-it Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer

Kat-Von-D-Lock-It-Color-Correcting-Eyeshadow-Primer-review-2-670x511I’ve never really been one for eyeshadow primers, but recently I had decided to try out Kat Von D’s lock-it color correcting eyeshadow primer in the shade fair. I had heard good things about it from some of my friends, but I was very sadly disappointed to this product. This product made my eyeshadow crease extremely easily, and multiple times throughout a day. It also made my eyeshadow have a cakey look to it that was just off putting to me. In my experience, this product can be very dry, and doesn’t help your eyeshadow to last and look good like it should.

3. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

tattoo linerAs all of you probably know by now, I’m an extremely big eyeliner fan, I love eyeliner, I love wearing it, I love trying out new eyeliners, and I love doing cat eye and winged eyeliner looks. I tried this eyeliner a few months ago, and I definitely had high hopes for this eyeliner, its always hyped up as one of the top eyeliners in existence. I will say I really love this eyeliner, however, I don’t think that it’s the best eyeliner I’ve ever tried though. I really loved that this was a felt tip eyeliner, I feel like this type of eyeliner always gives me the best looking wings. I thought the pigment of the eyeliner was really good, and I liked how dark black it was, I also really appreciated that the eyeliner didn’t bleed into surrounding areas once its applied. My only real complaint about this eyeliner is that the felt tip was too flexible, making it hard to control when applying wings at times.

4. Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette

Kat-Von-D-Shade-Light-Contour-Palette-openI really really love this contour palette. It is absolutely one of the best contour palettes I have ever used, and I can honestly say that its the only one I ever wanna use. This contour palette is very versatile, and the shades are extremely blendible for an effortless subtle and natural contour. I also really like that the contour doesn’t look muddy or get patchy when it is blended out, which is a problem I’ve had with a lot of contour palettes I’ve tried. This palette can also be good for when you want a more dramatic, sharp, and bold contour, as the contour shades in this palette are very buildable, while still looking blended and flawless.

5. Unlock-It Makeup Remover Wipe

makeup wipesI’m always looking for a good pack of makeup wipes, so a few months ago, I tried out this pack of makeup wipes form Kat Von D. Honestly, I found these makeup wipes very disappointing. The makeup wipes dried out extremely quickly, and I also felt as if they were causing my skin to dry out as well. I also was really worried after using this product because my face felt itchy after using it, and my eyes started burning from the ingredients in these makeup wipes. I don’t really know if this is a common problem that everyone has or maybe its because I have very sensitive skin and its just not a product that works for me, but either way I don’t really recommend this product to anybody.

6. Kat Von D Metal Matte Eyeshadow Palette

Kat-Von-D-Metal-Matte-Palette5This is one of my all time favorite eyeshadow palettes, it has a perfect combination of mattes and shimmery metallics that compliment each other. The pigmentation of all of the mattes is beautiful, and the metallics are extremely pigmented, especially for them being shimmers. The eyeshadows were all very blendible, and I didn’t have a problem with the eyeshadows creasing or not lasting throughout the day. I really love all of the colors in the palette, I thought it contained a good range of neutrals and bolder shadows, that could work for any makeup wearer. I honestly would recommend this palette to anyone, as its very good quality, and it also is a very versatile palette that can make a huge spectrum of beautiful eyeshadow looks.

7. The Alchemist Holographic Palette

kat-von-d-alchemist-holographic-palette-swatches-reviewI decided to try out this highlighting palette sometime after it came it out. I did notice that it was very very similar to my ABH Moonchild Glow Kit, but I decided to try it out anyways. I did side by side swatches of the palettes and they were extremely similar in quality and color. I will say that Kat Von D’s highlighting palette did seem to have holographic layers that illuminated differently than ABH’s Moonchild palette. Despite the similarities, I think that Kat Von D’s palette is a very good quality, these highlighters look beautiful in the light, and I loved the packaging of this product. Personally though, I probably wouldn’t purchase this palette again, but thats just because I already have highlighters very similar.

8. Customer Relations

kvd youtubeI really love Kat Von D, I’ve only ever seen instances of her treating her fans kindly and with respect, and I also really love that she shares swatches and her early product sketches and designs on her social media platforms. In her youtube channel, she often shows the huge amount of work she puts into her brand and her products. I think she’s a really amazing person, who really cares about her customers.

My overall opinion on Kat Von D and her brand is pretty good, I think that most of the time she makes good quality products, and she treats her customers respectfully. There were some products that didn’t work for me, but I really love a lot of the products she puts out.

Dressy Tomboy OOTD.

Idressed up tomboy ootd dont know if I would consider myself a tomboy necessarily, however, I hate wearing dresses and skirts most of the time. There are some occasions though that call for dressing up, so I’ve recently found an outfit thats perfect for people like me who aren’t necessarily fans of skirts and dresses, who still want to have some what of a tomboy flair.

For this outfit, I paired together a basic white crop top with a white lace skirt, a red plaid patterned flannel, and white converse. I also wore my hair down and in messy waves with this outfit, because I thought it complimented the vibes the outfit was giving off

Cake in a Cup.

smores-mug-cakeSo recently I’ve been looking for some sweet desert alternatives to the more bigger traditional deserts like cake, brownies, and cupcakes. In my case, the traditional recipes just take too much tim and effort to make whenever I’m getting a sweet tooth, not to mention the huge pile of dishes these traditional recipes
leave behind. So I’ve found the perfect alternative, a cake in a mug, its extremely easy and it tastes absolutely amazing, so I thought I would share my favorite cake in a cup recipe with all of you.

My favorite cake cup recipe that I’ve tried so far is a fudge chocolate s’mores cake, its extremely delicious, and it only takes about five minutes to make.

So here’s what you’re going to need to make this cake in a cup:

  • Either marshmallow fluff, or actual marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 ounces of milk chocolate
  • 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 small sprinkle of salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup of pastry flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 medium or large sized egg
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons of unsalted, melted butter
  • 2-3 tablespoons of crushed up graham crackers (or graham cracker crumbs)

smoresmug-3-2The first step in making this cake is to combine the crushed up graham crackers and a 1/2 tablespoon of melted butter, once the butter has slightly softened the graham crackers, you should place the graham crackers into the bottom of your cup to act as your base. Next, combine the rest of the melted butter (3 tablespoons) with the milk chocolate and place the bowl into the microwave to melt the chocolate. Once this step is finished, mix the egg, the granulated sugar, and the vanilla in a bowl until smooth, then add in the melted butter and chocolate mixture and continue mixing. (Optional, you can also fold in some chocolate chips into the batter at this point if you want to.) Then place this mixture in the cup on top of the graham cracker base layer. Next add a layer of marshmallow fluff, and then another layer of the cake batter mixture on top of the marshmallow. Then place into the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes and top the mixture with one final layer of marshmallow fluff, and graham cracker crumbs.

This recipe might take a little bit of trial and error, but it definitely gets easier the more you make it. I really hope you guys enjoyed this recipe, and that you try it out sometime. If you tried out this recipe please let me know your thoughts and how it went, in the comments.

Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation.

lock it foundationI know that I’m definitely behind in terms of waiting such a long time to try out this product. But now that I have finally used it, I’ve fallen in love with it, and I actually think I’m going to make it part of my permanent foundation routine. This foundation is extremely full coverage, which is one of the reasons I love it, I really love full coverage makeup, and I can definitely appreciate this product. Its really easy to apply and easy to blend. I also really loved that it didn’t look cake and it didn’t make me feel like I had ten pounds of makeup on my face like some full coverage foundations can do sometimes. I feel like this product would be really good to use if you have a lot of acne or if you have really bad dark circles like I do, this product made them barely noticeable after one light coat, and I feel like it could probably cover anything.

My Opinion on Anastasia Beverly Hills.

I’ve been using Anastasia Beverly Hills products for a very long time, ever since they released their contour palette, which was a huge hit everywhere, I’ve been using their products. I definitely love quiet a bit of their products, but I have definitely had some unpleasant experiences with others. So in this post, I’m going to talk about my favorite and least favorite products that I’ve tried from ABH cosmetics, and what I think about their brand as a whole.

(P.s. Before I start, everyone has different brands they do and don’t like, and just because I don’t like a certain brand doesn’t mean that you can’t or that you liking that brand is wrong. Everyone has different opinions, and this is just mine.)

1. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

review-anastasia-beverly-hills-contour-kit-review-and-swatches-2I figured that I would start this list with the product that “started it all” for my relationship with ABH cosmetics. When this palette first came out, there was a lot of hype surrounding it, and I definitely had some doubts about this product before trying it. Things changed as soon as I applied it though, it gave me a perfect effortless contour that was cool toned enough for my skin, but it didn’t make me look dead. This contour palette also had a quality that I really appreciated, the product didn’t look muddy as I was applying or blending it out, which is a common problem I have with some of the counter palettes I try.

2. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Stencils

brow stencilAs someone who has never really tried anything particularly fancy or special with their eyebrows, when I saw this product, I figured I would get it so I could try to see what other brow shapes might work for me and my face. I also thought that this product would be really good for getting my brows to look a little more uniform. I was fairly disappointed with this product though, the stencils were very difficult to use to fill in my eyebrows, they also made for an uneven application on my eyebrows, and I found that some of the stencils were too big for my eyebrows and my face.

3. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit

I absolutely LOVE this glow kit, I use it every single day that I do my makeup. It has beautiful highlight colors that are a little more bold than the traditional highlight colors people use, which is part of the reason why I love them. Not only that but the color payoff of these highlighters is amazing. It gives you a perfect pop of highlight without looking too overbearing or bright, its also really easy to potentially blend out in case you apply too much or you want a more subtle highlight.

4. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick

ahb lipstickI really like ABH’s liquid lipsticks, I’m definitely not one for lipstick usually, but when I do wear lipsticks, I tend to prefer matte lipsticks over traditional satin finish lipsticks. I really like all of the liquid lipstick colors that ABH provides, I think all of the colors are really versatile and stunning. Their liquid lipsticks are also really nourishing and moisturizing, and they aren’t overly drying like some other liquid lipsticks on the market.

5. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Primer

lip primerI had really high hopes for this product when I bought it, and sadly, I was majorly disappointed. This might just be something thats my fault and not the products fault, but I didn’t have a good experience with this product. The lip primer felt like it was burning and stinging while it was on my lips, and this feeling lasted slightly even after I had washed it off. I could have some sort of sensitivity to this product or something in its formula, or maybe I’ve even gotten a bad batch or something, either way, there’s no way I’m ever trying this product again.

6. The Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil

brow wiz pencilI actually thought this product was fairly nice, it applied really easily, and was something that was so simple to use that I would even recommend it for beginners. The color pay off was also really nice, it was fairly pigmented while still giving my brows a natural look to them. I would definitely buy this product again in the future even though I don’t even use brow products that much.

7. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

abh mr paletteThis eyeshadow palette is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I really love the color pay off of all of these eyeshadows, and I can definitely say that if you’re someone debating whether or not to get this product because of the price, you should definitely get it. This palette contains beautiful warm toned browns, oranges, neutrals, and pinks, that would look stunning on anyone. Not to mention that these shadows are extremely blendible and they don’t crease after long hours of wear.

So these are just some of my favorite and least favorite products from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I really like this brand as a whole, and I think the products they provide for their customers are of a very high quality and are worth the money, not to mention I’ve had a lot of good interactions with representatives from this company and I feel like its a good reflection about how they treat their customers.
